Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar alleged that the trade union strike on Wednesday has turned out to be harmful to the people of Kerala.

Calling the state government-sponsored strike a betrayal of the people, he said it has deprived the food of those who go to work to earn their daily bread.

He said the “national” strike has not affected people’s lives in any way anywhere else in the country except in Kerala.

“What benefit has the strike achieved other than disrupting the daily needs of the common people who go out to work to earn their daily bread?” he asked.

“If the protest was against the BJP and the Central government, it should have been reflected in Delhi and other states ruled by BJP governments. But everything went on as usual there,” he said.

People were not even aware of the strike, he added

The Kerala BJP chief said the violence that took place in the name of the national strike was to divert people’s attention from the problems in the health sector in the state.

He accused the CPI-M and DYFI workers in Kerala of behaving like goons. Ordinary auto workers, drivers and government employees are being threatened for attending duties. Even those who come to work are being intimidated and sent away. He said the impact of this strike is beyond what Kerala, which is struggling with debt, can bear.

“This is the ‘dangerous politics’ that the people of Kerala are facing, as highlighted by the BJP. Don’t forget that just as you have the right to strike, others also have the right to work. Today’s strike is evidence of the dangerous politics in which the Left and Right Fronts in Kerala are deceiving the people and taking the country backwards. There must be an end to such forms of protest that pose a threat to the development of the state,” Rajeev Chandrasekhar stated.
