In a major breakthrough Rayagada district police have arrested a gang of 16 dacoits, including one receiver. The inter district dacoit gang were involved in bank robbery, house burglary, chain snatching and other crime.

Both are branches of State Bank of India. Rayagada SP Rahul PR told media persons that the gang had managed to get inside the bank but were unable to break the strong room and lockers.

On Thursday when the gang assembled at Musuripadar ground under Tikiri police limits and were planning to loot the house of one Pabitra Naik of the police had intercepted and trapped all the accused.
These accused during interrogation disclosed the names of other involvers in dacoit cases who were nabbed by the joint operation made by Rayagada, Chandili, Tikiri, Kashipur police teams.
The arrested are identified as Raj Kumar Bagh, Sanjit Hial, Sripati Rana, Premananda Karkaria, Angad Mahanandia, Simanchal Majhi, Pilla Lokesh, Sarat Garadia, Dinesh Kedia, Laxmikant Kanda, Murti Miniaka, Sushant Kandhapani, Santosh Ray, Lakinath Karkaria and Babu Rao Kandhapani while one T Murali the receiver of theft burgled items was also arrested.
Police also revealed that three others are absconding. Police has also seized seven – two-wheelers, one four-wheeler, sixteen mobile phones, one country-made pistol, a couple of knives, gold and other items.
