Following the footsteps of Telangana, which has adopted the technique of monetering mining works through Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) survey, the Punjab government has decided to go the same way to protect rich mineral wealth in the state.

Disclosing this on Tuesday, during the sub-committee meeting on mining, the Punjab Local government minister Navjot Singh Sidhu said that the panel has studied the mining policies of 13 different states.

The minister said that the panel has found the mining policy of Telangana most suitable and he along with other members and officials will be heading for Telangana to see the process. “The main objective of the new mining policy would be to plug in the revenue loss caused to the state exchequer”, he said.
