Real Madrid have agreed a deal to sign Real Betis midfielder Dani Ceballos, the Champions League title-holders announced on Friday.

“Real Madrid C. F. and Real Betis Balompié have agreed the transfer of Dani Ceballos, who has signed a six-year contract with the club,” Real Madrid said in a statement.

“On Friday, the 21st of July, the player will join the team on their pre-season tour of the United States,” the club added.

A product of Betis’ Youth Academy, Ceballos had reportedly been tracked by several top clubs, including Barcelona after an impressive 2016-17 season with Los Verdiblancos.

It was, however, his exploits for Spain at the recently concluded UEFA European U-21 Championship in which La Roja reached the final, that Ceballos really shone.

The 20-year-old was awarded the player of the tournament despite Spain failing to win the title, losing out to Germany in the final, and Real swooped in for a reported fee of €17 million, beating arch-rivals Barcelona in the process.
