Serbian tennis sensation Novak Djokovic remembered tennis great Jelena Gencic fondly on her fourth death anniversary.

Djokovic posted a picture with the Yugoslav on Friday. Gencic was Djokovic's coach during his early tennis days; she coached him from 1993 to 1999.

“My tennis mother passed away, but her spirit is always present. Her legacy continues to live and her wisdom is deeply in rooted in my mind and soul. Love you Jelena Gencic,” Djokovic wrote on Instagram.

The humble Serb, who holds the highest match winning percentage (82.8%) in the Open Era, continued his post in Bosnian, acknowledging Gencic.

“Four years ago, on this day, died Jelena Gencic, but her spirit is always present. Her wisdom still rings in my head and I am grateful infinitely for everything she has done for me and my family. I love this dungeon,” Djokovic added.

So far so good, the 30-year-old has won 12 Grand Slam singles titles, the fourth highest in history. He also remained in the No.1 position in the ATP rankings for a span of 223 weeks.

Djokovic is currently featuring in the French Open, where he is scheduled to play Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman in the round of 32 on Friday.
