Four Republicans join Democrats as House votes to curb Trump’s Iran war powers
The closely contested vote exposed divisions within the Republican Party while renewing debate over Congress' authority to approve extended military operations overseas.

US President Donald, who waged a war against Iran alongside Israel, is now pushing for a resolution within the publicly announced four-to-six-week timeline, reported The Wall Street Journal.
According to the report, Trump has privately told his advisors that the conflict is in the final stage, urging them to stick to the timeline he announced at the start of the war.

Moreover, the United States wants to go ahead with the highly anticipated summit between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in May and Washington wants to resolve the conflict before that, the report added.

Some in Trump’s circle want him to go hard on Iran as they believe regime change in Tehran could define his legacy, the WSJ report said.
However, the US President has reportedly told an associate that the Iran war is distracting him from other priorities.
The US President had threatened Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours or face strikes on its power plants. As the deadline was about to end, he postponed the strikes, saying that the US and Iran have held “very good and productive” talks to end the conflict.
However, Iran refused to admit that it is engaged in any negotiations with the United States but later admitted that a friendly nation in the region has been acting as an intermediary.
The US reportedly sent a 15-point proposal to Iran through Pakistan but Tehran rejected the proposal and set out five conditions to end the war.
While US conditions wanted Iran to give up its nuclear ambitions, and allow uninterrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, Iran demanded reparations, and its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.
The United States, meanwhile, has reportedly planned to send around 3,000 paratroopers to the Middle East, indicating that Trump may also be considering sending boots on the ground in case the diplomacy doesn’t work.
