United States President Donald Trump is scheduled to deliver his State of the Union 2026 address on Tuesday night.

According to the US media, Trump, in his second year in office, will use the address to highlight the achievements of his second term as president: his crackdown against illegal immigrants, the reduction in the size of the federal government, his global tariffs policy (that has now been struck down by the Supreme Court), and his government’s bold moves to exercise military options in Iran and Venezuela.

The State of the Union 2026 will be carefully watched by the Republicans as well as opposition Democrats ahead of the November midterm elections, with his party hoping Trump will be able to convince the voter base of the success of his policies, which he has claimed were in the interest of Americans.

Reports said the main theme of the address would be the economy, which has registered an increase in domestic manufacturing and witnessed new jobs being created.

Trump will also likely again hit back at the Supreme Court in his address for its ruling against the reciprocal tariffs policy, which has caused an upheaval across the globe, among foes and allies, over the past several months.

Trump could also ask lawmakers to green-flag a jump in military spending, on the back of the President’s repeated assertion that the USA has to reclaim the role of being the only superpower in the world, economically as well as militarily.

The Iran tensions will also likely be addressed, as the President has already dispatched two US aircraft carriers to the Middle East and action may happen soon. He may also recall the airstrikes on Iranian nuclear infrastructure last summer.

The operation to capture now-ousted Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro will also most likely figure in the address.

That the address will cover a lot, issue-wise and detail-wise, has already been made clear by the President himself.

“It’s going to be a long speech because we have so much to talk about,” Trump said ahead of the speech, promising a big focus on the economy.

The President’s speech is expected to begin at 9 pm ET, which is 7:30 am India Standard Time on Wednesday.
