‘Netanyahu got some things wrong’: JD Vance flags US-Israel differences
The US Vice President said Netanyahu remains a good partner, but private differences with Washington are better left out of public view.
Kuwait closed its airspace on Thursday while Bahrain and Jordan issued safety advisories after air defence systems were activated amid a widening security crisis in West Asia and the Gulf region.
The alerts came as the Iran-US confrontation entered a more volatile phase, with American forces announcing fresh strikes on Iranian military targets and Iran-linked reports claiming retaliation against US military-related sites in the region.

Kuwait air defences respond to aerial threats
The Kuwaiti Army, in a post on X, said its air defence systems were dealing with “hostile aerial targets” and asked people to follow safety and security instructions, ANI reported.

Al Jazeera reported that Kuwait had closed its airspace while responding to missile and drone attacks.
Bahrain also moved into alert mode after air raid sirens were activated again. Its interior ministry said the alarm siren had been triggered and advised citizens to stay calm, move to the nearest safe place and track only official updates.
Jordan issues shelter warning after reports of missiles in airspace
In Jordan, Iranian state media Press TV reported the activation of air defence systems after what it described as Iranian missile attacks on a US military base.
The US Embassy in Jordan issued an immediate shelter advisory, warning that missiles, drones or rockets had reportedly entered Jordanian airspace.
“Reports indicate missiles, drones, or rockets are in Jordanian airspace. Seek overhead cover and shelter in place immediately. Remain indoors and pay attention to local announcements and alerts. The U.S. Embassy in Jordan will continue to review the situation and provide additional information,” the embassy said.
CENTCOM says US hit Iranian military assets
The regional alerts followed Iranian officials announcing the closure of the Strait of Hormuz in response to American strikes.
In the early hours of Thursday, CENTCOM said it had conducted additional “self-defence strikes” against several targets in Iran on June 10 at the direction of the Commander in Chief.
The US military command said the strikes were aimed at Iranian military surveillance capabilities, communication systems and air defence sites across Iran.
“U.S. Marine Corps, Air Force, and Navy assets fired precision munitions on Iranian targets that posed a threat to U.S. forces and international commercial ships transiting regional waters,” CENTCOM said.
CENTCOM said the action was taken in response to Iran’s “unwarranted and continued aggression”.
IRGC claims response operations against US-linked sites
Iranian media reported explosions in Sirik, Karaj and Abyek in Qazvin province, Al Jazeera reported.
Citing Iran’s IRGC, Al Jazeera further reported that 18 “important” US military-related sites had been targeted in response operations against American attacks. These included the Ali Al-Salem and Ahmed Al-Jaber bases in Kuwait, and Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain.
Press TV also reported that IRGC Commander General Sayed Majid Mousavi warned the US, saying the region would be turned into “hell” if Washington continued to threaten the security of the Strait of Hormuz.
