In the tumultuous landscape of immigration discourse, the resonance of former President Donald Trump's border message extends far beyond his political base.
Former FBI director James Comey launched an attack on US President Donald Trump, who had fired him in May 2017, saying the latter was “morally unfit” to be president of the United States.
In an interview to ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos, Comey said, “I don’t buy this stuff about him being mentally incompetent or early stages of dementia.”

“I don’t think he’s medically unfit to be president. I think he’s morally unfit to be president. Our president must embody respect and adhere to the values that are at the core of this country. The most important being truth. This president is not able to do that,” he added.
In a shocking statement, Comey also said it was “possible” that Russia had something it could blackmail US President Trump with, media reports said.
Asked if he though Russians “have something on Donald Trump”, Comey said: “I think it’s possible”, CNBC reported.
“It is stunning and I wish I wasn’t saying it, but it’s the truth. I cannot say that (Trump is not subject to Russian blackmail).
“It always struck me and still strikes me as unlikely, and I would have been able to say with high confidence about any other president I dealt with, but I can’t. It’s possible,” he said.
Comey’s own firing in May 2017 by Trump set in motion the appointment of special counsel Robert Mueller by the Justice Department.
Mueller is investigating Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, and possible collusion by Trump campaign officials in that meddling.
