Reports said the blast happened near the entrance, which is normally crowded.

Videos on social media showed flames and thick smoke rising from a charred vehicle behind a security barrier.

The area was cordoned off after the blast, and rescue and investigation teams were carrying out operations.

Islamabad was put on alert after the blast in a high-security zone. The incident happened in the parking lot of the city’s busy judicial complex. A number of high-ranking government offices are also located in the area.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Islamabad blast took place a day after a bomb blast near the Red Fort in Delhi killed at least 12 people.
