Witness some of the most beautiful fireworks in Macao this September and October.

Macao is prepping up to dazzle its skyline with the 29th edition of the Macao International Fireworks Display Contest, beginning September 2, to a great audience from the country and across the world.

The event will be staged above the sea area in front of the Macau Tower on September 2, 9, 16 and 23 September and 1 October. It will line up 10 internationally renowned teams to light up the night sky with spectacular fireworks accompanied with orchestra and laser effects. It promises a range of stunning multimedia pyrotechnic shows for the audience.

The Fireworks Carnival will be held alongside the event. It brings together vibrant dance and music performances, exotic delicacies and great fun beneath the fireworks.

It was in 1989 that the Macao Government staged the inaugural edition of the ‘Macao International Fireworks Display Contest, which featured only five participating teams.

Over the years, the Macao International Fireworks Display Contest has grown. Teams from China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Australia, Chinese Taiwan, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Poland, Croatia, Finland, the United States, Canada and South Africa participate in this pyrotechnic wizardry every year.

This year, the contest lines up 10 teams from Australia, Austria, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, the Philippines, Germany, Italy, Portugal and China this year.
