Xiaomi has globally launched its latest smartphone dubbed ‘Xiaomi Mi A1’ on Tuesday at a launch event in New Delhi, India.

The Mi A1 is a new ‘A series’ smartphone from Xiaomi in partnership with Google. The Mi A1 offers pure Android experience with Google’s ‘Android One’. It is said to be the first high-end Google Android One smartphone in India.

The Mi A1 has 12MP dual-rear camera setup, one with a wide-angle lens and other with a telephoto lens, similar to iPhone 7 Plus. It also gets features like portrait mode, background blur, and 2x optical zoom like the iPhone 7 Plus.

About the software, Xiaomi Mi A1 runs stock Android 7.1 Nougat without any MIUI layer on top, and company promises to deliver latest Android 8.0 Oreo by the end of this year (2017). Although, Xiaomi will still pre-intsall few Mi apps on Mi A1, e.g. like Mi Camera, Mi Remote, Mi Store etc.

Xiaomi Mi A1: Display, Design and Processor

The Xiaomi Mi A1 boasts of a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080p) 2.5D curved glass display. It has a uni-body metal design similar to OnePlus 5, although the fingerprint sensor is at the back panel. Xiaomi says that the back panel uses smudge free coating, and overall body with dual pyrolytic graphite sheets helps diffuse and radiate heat quickly.

The Mi A1 is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor, just like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. It is backed by 4GB of RAM and incorporates 64GB of internal storage.

Xiaomi Mi A1: Price and Availability

The Xiaomi Mi A1 comes in Black, Gold and Rose Gold colour options. It is priced at Rs. 14,999 and will be available online from Mi.com and Flipkart from September 12 at 12 noon.

Xiaomi will also be selling Mi A1 through major offline retail channels like Mi Home, Croma, Vijay Sales, HotSpot, e-Zone etc. starting September 12 as well. Consumers will additionally get 200GB free 4G data from Airtel for new or old users on Xiaomi Mi A1.
