Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai conceded defeat and said that the BJP will come back victorious in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
"More than 75-80 per cent will support BJP. We will win 130-135 seats," the former chief minister said after casting his vote.
The 224-seat Karnataka assembly will go to polls on May 10 and the counting of votes will take place on May 13.
This comes after Jagadish Shettar became the second senior leader from the Lingayat community to leave the ruling BJP and join Congress.
