India’s gold market witnessed a structural shift in the March quarter, with investment demand overtaking jewellery consumption for the first time on record, according to the World Gold Council (WGC).
The rally in gold prices from the trough to the milestone mark of USD 4,000 per ounce (oz), reached on October 9, and is just 735 days old, according to a recent note by the World Gold Council (WGC).
Gold investments in India saw a significant surge in 2024 with a rise of 60 per cent in value terms to reach $18 billion (approximately Rs 1.5 lakh crore) compared to 2023, according to a report on Wednesday.
As per the WGC data, gold-backed ETFs attracted $4.3 billion of inflows in October to lift collective holdings to 3,244 tonnes.
