Abdul Razzaq was a part of the men’s and women’s selection committee, while Wahab was a selector of the men’s team.
“There is no pressure on me. I had made a decision and I am revoking it. In India, we have examples of Mohammad Azharuddin and Ajay Jadeja,” Riaz said.
Butt represented Pakistan in 33 Tests, 78 ODIs and 24 T20Is. He made 5,209 runs spanning the three formats with 11 international centuries. He was in the T20 World Cup winning squad in 2009.
Wahab Riaz will be joined by Mohammad Abass, Naseem Shah, Usman Shinwari, Shaheen Afridi, Sohail Khan and Faheem Ashraf in the pace department.
"He is a top-class performer and this is the right time to groom him," Pakistan's coach said.
The 51-year-old cautioned that leaving a match-winner like Amir out of the T20 World Cup squad could prove to be detrimental for the team.
It's apparent that Waqar Younis' comments have come as an indirect jibe to the likes of Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz whom he had critcised earlier as well.
In the unavailability of an experienced bowling unit and due to a mediocre batting unit, Pakistan had succumbed to humiliation in Australia last year.
Wahab Riaz is the captain of the Peshawar Zalmi side in the ongoing edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
