Voting in Japan's general election began on Sunday morning, with a total of 1,284 candidates competing for 465 seats in the House of Representatives, the powerful lower chamber of parliament.
Voting was held in 18,274 polling stations from 7 am to 6 pm. Of these, 2,055 polling stations have been earmarked as sensitive.
Voters in the rest of the seven districts, including Thirussur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Kannur, Wayanad and Kasaragod would use their franchise on December 11.
It was the modest, but smooth beginning of the polling at 268 polling centers in this assembly constituency of the South-eastern Rajasthan at 07:00am, however, it gained momentum later setting a brisk pace in the voting.
Though 6 pm is the voting deadline, those who were in the queue were allowed to cast their franchise as per ECI guidelines, said officials.
Barring a poll boycott call by denizens of Sankali village, the polling was progressing smoothly.
The constituencies going to the polls include Budgam and Nagrota in Jammu and Kashmir, Anta in Rajasthan, Ghatshila in Jharkhand, Jubilee Hills in Telangana, Tarn Taran in Punjab, Dampa in Mizoram, and Nuapada in Odisha.
As per the press note issued by the poll panel the deployed personnel include nearly 4.53 lakh polling personnel, 2.5 lakh police officials, 28,370 counting personnel, 17,875 micro-observers, 9,625 sector officers, and 4,840 micro-observers for counting.
"The voting in the Vice Presidential election is over. The Opposition has stood united. ALL of its 315 MPs have turned up for voting. This is an unprecedented 100% turnout, Ramesh said in a post on handle X.
