The newly appointed Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee president, Vinay Kumar, on Sunday formally assumed charge, marking a significant organisational shift for the party as it prepares for upcoming political challenges in the state.
Kumar resigned from Deputy Speaker's post on Saturday. He pipped other contenders including Education minister Rohit Thakur and MLAs Kuldeep Rathore, Suresh Kumar, Ashish Butail and Vinod Sultanpuri.
Vinay Kumar, who was elected Assembly Deputy Speaker with consensus, has won the Assembly elections for the third consecutive time. He has won the assembly elections held in 2012, 2017 and last year in December 2022.
Vinay Kumar took four wickets for 57 runs in the second innings to take his overall wickets tally to 401 in Ranji Trophy.
