India, Vietnam upgrade ties to ‘enhanced comprehensive strategic partnership

India and Vietnam on Wednesday agreed to elevate their bilateral relationship to an “Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership”, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vietnamese President To Lam unveiled an expansive roadmap covering trade, technology, defence, and cultural cooperation following delegation-level talks at Hyderabad House.

On 30 April 1975, Saigon, the capital of South Vietnam was captured by North Vietnam. Ever since it is marked as Reunification Day. This process began with the signing of the Paris Accord ending US involvement in South Vietnam on 27 January 1973.
