Trinamul Congress MP Mamata Bala Thakur and former MP Mausam Noor have been accused of 'contempt of parliament' for protesting against the VB-G-Ram-G bill in the Rajya Sabha.
Addressing a media conference at the CMO here Wednesday afternoon, Sharma said that the Centre's stance that the new version of MNREGA, based on the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is far better, more beneficial to farmers, the labourers, and to the ruralites and effective in bringing about sustainable development by way of works of permanent value.

The VB-G RAM G Bill, 2025 fundamental reforms include increased guaranteed work to 125 days per year, revised Centre-State funding, normative allocation of funds, mandated non-working agricultural periods, and decentralized planning through Gram Panchayats, aiming to modernize and align rural employment with Viksit Bharat 2047.

The Opposition parties, led by the Congress, vehemently opposed the VB-G RAM G bill that seeks to replace the Mahatma Gandhi NREGA scheme.

Incidentally, the draft of the VB-G RAM G Bill—aimed at replacing the decades-old Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA)—was shared among Lok Sabha members around Monday.
