In the last five years, a continuous record increase has been registered in the number of children admitted to private schools under the RTE. So far, more than 1.40 lakh children have been admitted in the 2025-26 academic year.
In a major relief to the state government, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has rejected the petitions filed against the merger of 5,000 primary schools in Uttar Pradesh on Monday.

The petitioners claimed that facilities were not provided during Covid-19 pandemic to the students and hence they are not liable to pay for that.
