The Supreme Court on Wednesday witnessed a sharp exchange between the West Bengal government and the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), with the State alleging that the anti-money laundering agency was being “weaponised” against political opponents, and the ED countering that it was, in fact, being “terrorised”.
Appearing for the Union government, Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta submitted before a Bench of Justices Aravind Kumar and Prasanna B. Varale that Wangchuk’s medical condition has been periodically reviewed and there was “nothing alarming” warranting his release.

The court directed its registrar judicial to communicate the order to Manipur Central Jail for release of the activist before 5 p.m. on Monday. The counsel for the petitioner submitted that he would press for compensation at the next hearing.
