Started in 1964 in Delhi and brought to Kolkata in 1968, the Statesman Vintage and Classic Car Rally has remained what it was six decades back: an occasion for joy and celebration, marked by good cheer and bonhomie.
So, buckle up for a ride through time with the wizard of wheels, where every restoration tells a story, and every trophy is a testament to his automotive mastery.
The car moves like any modern car, with Ananda on the steering wheel. It is one of the most attractive cars in The Statesman Vintage and Classic Car Rally and in all the old car shows that are held in Kolkata.
The car was painted in a shade of maroon. However, now the car has been painted in its original shade, namely, Bright Vineyard Green. The entire upholstery has been redone.
The 56th Statesman Vintage and Classic Car Rally was flagged off by NDMC chairman Amit Yadav at the Statesman House amid a catchy symphony played by a band. On their way to Noida and back these vintage beauties won many hearts with their aura and majestic gait.
The more mechanically inclined are no less-enthused ~ the "season" has come for the motoring magnificence of yesteryear to bask in nostalgia- flavoured glory.
The pre-judging of the participating vehicles to check their road-worthiness and originality among other parameters began on 21 February and continued till 4 pm 22 February at Modern School, Barakhamba Road.
A total of 191 participants were part of the rally this year that celebrated its Golden Jubilee in Kolkata
