Russia and China backed India’s stance after fresh US tariffs over Russian oil imports, with Beijing warning “give a bully an inch, he will take a mile” and Moscow defending nations’ right to choose trade partners.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a crucial high-level Cabinet meeting on Friday at 1 p.m. to assess the impact of the steep tariff hike recently imposed by the US on Indian exports.
He further blamed the BJP-led government for the new tariff rates, which fell drastically when Reliance’s Jio was launched in the sector.
However, calls made on the same networks will continue to remain free.
The latest target of Beijing's ire was comments by Trump stating that the US tariffs have had a "devastating effect" on the Chinese economy.
