Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Shiromani Akali Dal Sukhbir Singh Badal today inducted 31 of the 51 independent candidates who were elected as councillors in the recent civic polls and have extended support to the party.

Addressing a massive gathering in Qadian, he outlined his vision for the state, promising welfare measures for farmers, construction of pucca bundhs on rivers, stronger social welfare schemes, interest-free loans for youth, government jobs exclusively for Punjabis, and an end to gangsterism and the drug mafia.
The party has decided to take up all the burning issues of Punjab and present its vision for the state during the mass contact programme.
Asserting that Sikh pilgrims were desirous of paying homage at Sri Nankana Sahib on this auspicious occasion and not allowing them to do so would hurt their religious feelings, Mr Sukhbir Badal while calling for a review of the advisory urged that pilgrims should be allowed to proceed at their own risk.
