Loans can be taken for course fee, tuition, hostel fee, books, study materials, computers or laptops. Any student taking a Rs 10 lakh loan on the card will have 15 years to repay it at a very low interest rate
According to data from the state finance department, in the last six months after the announcement of the scheme in June this year, more than one lakh students have applied of which 1,748 of them have received their loans
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will launch the scheme from the state secretariat on virtual mode on Wednesday and all the education departments and all the district administrative officials will be present in the launching programme in virtual mode.
Under the basic income support scheme, female heads of general category households will receive Rs 500 per month, while for SC/ST families the amount will be Rs 1000 per month.
