N95 masks, gloves, face shields, and plastic aprons along with hand hygiene are sufficient for personal protection for surgical procedures on patients without any Covid-19 symptoms. There is no need for PPEkits for doctors and medical staff in such surgical cases, the directive stated.
"We are requesting mothers to get the PCV at the same time when their babies get the first dose of polio, rotavirus, pentavalent vaccine and other routine vaccines at six weeks. There should not be any reluctance on the part of the mothers because the vaccine is expected to check the children from getting infected with respiratory distresses like pneumonia,"
Doctors have advised taking children showing symptoms of fever for more than five days, cough and cold, breathing trouble, loss of appetite and low urine quantity to hospitals or local clinics for immediate medical consultancy.
“The private hospitals and nursing homes have been asked to increase number of RMOs and nurses according to the strength of indoor beds. We may take necessary actions if these private healthcare units mainly big hospitals do not take steps in this regard ahead of the third wave,”
The health department has decided to make three government hospitals-BC Roy Post Graduate Institute of Paediatric Science, Calcutta National Medical College Hospital (CNMCH) and North Bengal Medical College Hospital-as hubs for treatment of Covid-19-affected children.
