According to a communication by the Kolkata Metro Railway office, tokens are going to be re-introduced in North –South and East-West Metro from Thursday. Like the pre-Covid times, the tokens will be issued from the counters of all stations.
From, deployment of RPF at the entry and exit points, counters at the stations for issuing and recharging of smart cards, luggage scanners, to hand sanitising kiosks, everything was tested and checked for the final preparations.
Having said that, it must be acknowledged that the Metro is poised to follow a very complex praxis, if the upshot of last Friday’s meeting between the Metro authorities and the West Bengal government is any indication.
As per DMRC’s prior announcement, the smart cards will be recharged automatically at the automatic fare collection gates (AFC) of the metro stations.
