India is the world’s second-largest fish producer, contributing 8 per cent to global output, ranks second in aquaculture production, leads in shrimp production and export, and is the second-largest producer in capture fisheries.
As many as 27 countries will participate in a mega event to mark the World Fisheries Day on November 21, aimed at highlighting India’s deepening global partnerships in the ‘blue economy’.
To boost India’s fish exports amid rising US tariffs, preparations for the 16th Export Commission are underway. The Seafood Exports Minister urges exporters to explore alternative markets to sustain growth and overcome trade challenges.
