“Today’s order strengthens the hope and trust that people place in the Hon’ble Supreme Court to safeguard religious rights of the Muslim minority community and to uphold the Constitution,” he wrote on his ‘X’ handle and added that this was a major step in undoing the unconstitutional and illegal amendments made to the Waqf Act.
"In particular, the requirement that only individuals practising Islam for ve years could create waqf was a blatant attempt to restrict the rights of minorities. These changes were clearly part of a broader design to stigmatise the Muslim community, deepen communal divisions, and open the way for arbitrary takeover of Waqf assets," Kumar said.
Mehbooba tweeted; "I welcome the SC verdict staying @RahulGandhi’s conviction in a case that had no legs to stand upon. Glad that he will be back in Parliament fighting for the idea of India".
