The Assam Police on Thursday deported eight undocumented immigrants – five Bangladeshi nationals and three Rohingyas – who had been residing illegally in the state.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on Friday, directed the Delhi Police to take strict action against the entire network that helps illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya immigrants in entering the country, getting their documents readied, and facilitating their stay here.
Apart from discussing ways to strengthen the border and check infiltration, the issue of deportation of Rohingya immigrants may also come up at the meeting.
