The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has refused to entertain the plea of Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi to interfere in the proceedings of a lower court over his remarks on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.
A single bench of Justice Kausar Edappath observed, “The allegations on the face of it are very serious. It is something that is maligning the entire justice delivery system."
A video of the incident has gone viral in which the bridegroom is being seen being dragged by hair.
Mallikarjun Kharge said, "Parliament has a history of similar protests, many initiated by the ruling dispensation when it was in opposition."
Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal said, "It is a case where a large part of land has been purchased as well as certain part of land belonging to tenure holders and gram sabha has been encroached upon by a former cabinet minister of the state for establishing an educational institution pursuant to an Act which has come up in the year 2005."
Rujira Banerjee in her letter to the Assistant Director ED said that being a mother of two infants, "travelling to New Delhi physically alone in the midst of the pandemic will put me and the lives of my children at grave risk."
