Gen Rawat to be cremated with full military honours today; Brig Lidder’s cremation held

The country's senior-most military officer, General Rawat, was killed along with his wife and 11others in an Indian Air Force helicopter crash near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu. He will be cremated with full military honours at Brar Square crematorium in Delhi Cantonment at 4 pm today .

Gen Rawat was alive, asking for water, says villager

Talking to media persons at Coonoor, Sivakumar said: "We reached the spot immediately after the crash and found three people alive and of them, one was asking for water. We didn't have water but we immediately put the three of them on separate blankets and took them to the Wellington Army hospital."

CDS chopper crash: Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari rushes for Sulur

Earlier in the day, the Indian Air Force confirmed that General Rawat was on-board an IAF Mi-17V5 helicopter that met with an accident while going from Sulur to Wellington in Tamil Nadu. There were 14 people, including nine officials of the CDS, on-board when the helicopter crashed.
