The Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) threatened to launch an agitation against imposition of Hindi language examination on state government gazetted officers and employees.

Elections for 29 municipal corporations in Maharashtra, including the prestigious as well as cash-rich Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), will take place on Thursday, January 15, 2026, with results to be declared on Friday, January 16, 2026.
Gajanan Kale also expressed his firm belief that every Marathi person will vote against the BJP for releasing such a poll manifesto.
"I want to tell the Chief Minister that this issue is not about whose business grew, but about how that growth took place. It is necessary to understand how only one industrialist is growing. It is necessary for the people to understand this growth," Raj Thackeray said.
