Incessant rainfall has severely impacted agricultural activities across the district. Affected farmers report that the heavy downpour has caused extensive damage, with large volumes of rainwater remaining stagnant across vast stretches of farmland.
The pre-monsoon showers have wreaked havoc in Bandel and the surrounding panchayat areas, with most residential zones now submerged in stagnant rainwater. Ground floors of many homes are inundated, leaving residents with no option but to wade through the dirty, accumulated water.
According to locals, it rained for around four hours at night and they woke up to flooded streets and rainwater entering inside their houses.
To review the progress of work, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia held a meeting with senior officials of Public Works Department (PWD), Delhi Jal Board (DJB), Delhi Development Authority (DDA).
Sources said that during the important meeting of the NITI Aayog Council on Saturday, the PM would underline the need for rainwater harvesting to tackle the water crisis affecting the rural areas.
