The BJP has brought in recent Congress defectors and retained key leaders in its first Assam poll list, setting up contests in constituencies like Dispur, Bihpuria and Jorhat.
A past social media post by BJP Assam has triggered fresh debate after Bordoloi’s induction, with opposition leaders questioning the party’s shifting political stance.
Bordoloi accused the Congress leadership of sidelining and mistreating him, which brought an end to his long-standing association with the party.
The development comes days after Bordoloi wrote a letter to AICC-in-charge of Assam, Jitendra Singh, alleging “humiliation” and the “party leadership’s lack of understanding” towards his concerns.
An alumnus of the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Bordoloi was appointed as con- venor of the North East Congress Coordination Committee (NECCC) in August last year.
