The Centre today submitted in an affidavit in the top court that with a view to dispelling any wrong narrative and with an object of examining the issues raised, it will constitute "a committee of experts in the field which will go into all aspects of the issue".
A bench comprising Chief Justice N V Ramana and Justice Surya Kant would hear on August 5 three separate petitions, including the one filed by senior journalists N Ram and Sashi Kumar.
The petitioners sought direction should be issued to the Centre to disclose if any of its agencies have obtained the license for Pegasus spyware
He alleged that the government used it politically. "They have used it in Karnataka, they have used it to scuttle probes, they have used it against the Supreme Court and against all the institutions of this country," he alleged.
