Sending out a message to public leading by example, Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma on Friday was seen riding a bicycle from his home to the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) office, in an effort to translate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s fuel conservation call into action.
BJP leader and Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma once again targeted AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday over his lifestyle and renovated accommodation at Lodhi Estate, dubbing it ‘Sheesh Mahal 2’ and alleging that private money was used to create lavish amenities in the residence.
Verma said that the national capital cannot be left vulnerable to the forces of nature, and the government departments are working on a war footing, with 24-hour duty.
During the four-hour inspection drive, the Minister stopped at multiple choke points and stretches across the city where commuters daily face hardships.
He said, “Our highways cannot run on outdated systems. Gantry-based tolling, ANPR cameras, RFID readers and FASTag integration will cut delays and improve transparency. Delhi must lead in adopting technology for efficient traffic management,” Verma added.
He announced that two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and slow-moving vehicles will not be allowed on its main carriageway as their entry could lead to serious accidents.
Verma paid a visit to the ITO Yamuna Ghat, leading a cleanliness drive aimed at raising public awareness about keeping Delhi free from garbage and plastic waste.
