Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju accused the opposition of wasting time in the ongoing session and said the government will pass crucial bills in both Houses today.
According to Lok Sabha secretariat sources, the notices seek a response from the Congress leader for making "misleading, derogatory, unparliamentary, and incriminatory statements" during a debate in Lok Sabha on February 7.
The meeting is crucial as the Monsoon Session is set to be stormy with the opposition ready with strategy to corner the government over several issues that include rising petrol and diesel prices and the infrastructure lapses during the second wave of Covid.
The development comes a day before the HP CM is to present budget proposals for 2021-22 on 6 March.
The Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi has said that all parties favour scrapping the session to avoid any Covid spread and jump straight to the Budget session in January.
With the extension of sittings, the session will now conclude on August 9.
