The Central government on January 27 signed an accord with the banned Assam-based insurgent group NDFB providing political and economic bonanza to the tribals, sans the outfit’s key demand of a separate Bodoland state or union territory.
Altogether 1,615 insurgents comprising 836 from NDFB(P), 579 from NDFB (RD) and 200 from NDFB (S) participated in the ceremony to surrender a total number of 178 weapons.
On 30 October 2008 , the militant outfit engineered 9 blasts across Assam, killing at least 88 people
The quantum of the judgement will be announced on January 30.
Although the court had convicted the four in the case on August 29, the quantum of punishment was pronounced on Saturday.
