Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday asked the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) to leverage India's attractive investment fundamentals to expand its operations.
According to Brickwork Ratings, the Indian road network is the second-largest globally, with a length of around 63.86 lakh km.
NIP aims to improve project preparation, attract investments (both domestic and foreign) into infrastructure, and will be crucial for the target of becoming a $5 trillion economy by FY 2025.
The identified projects are mainly in the fields of power, railways, urban irrigation, mobility, education and health, the minister informed.
