Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, addressing the special session of the Assembly on the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam on Tuesday, criticised the opposition over delays in the women’s reservation measure, describing April 16, 17, and 18 as a “sad chapter” in the history of Indian democracy.
Addressing the assembly during the special session convened to discuss the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam on Tuesday, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta said that the issue is not merely a matter of legislative procedure but of the dignity, rights and representation of half of the country’s population.
During the discussion, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, along with members of the assembly, will share their views on the women's reservation Bill.
"More opportunities will come our way ahead as well. We must fulfill this resolve for the dreams of half the population, for the future of the country,” said the Prime Minister.
Accusing the Congress, DMK, TMC and SP of insulting the 'Nari Shakti', Modi said, "A woman forgets everything, but she never forgets her insult."

"We had tabled this proposal during our time; we are not against it," Kharge said, questioning the timing of the government’s push.
Gupta interacted with Delhi University students and faculty during the awareness drive, calling the Act a milestone for women’s leadership.
