The NCB had charged Chakraborty under the stringent Section 27-A of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act that pertains to “financing and harbouring illegal drug trafficking”.
According to the police, a competent authority under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has ordered attachment of property of accused Sukhandar Singh alias Mandar Singh and his family members.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Dr. S Muralidhar and Justice A K Mohapatra had earlier sought the disposal of narcotics seized under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
They demanded the immediate removal of Sidhu from the additional charge of ADGP, Prisons besides taking other necessary action in the case.
“Court’s decision is very much welcomed. The Hon'ble court did what the Punjab and Central government should have done years ago,” he said.
Comedian Bharti Singh was arrested on Saturday after being questioned by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for 15 hours and her husband was arrested on Sunday morning.
