West Bengal Chief Secretary Nandini Chakraborty today met officials of the Election Commission of India at its New Delhi office after being summoned to explain alleged non-compliance with a series of commission’s orders.
State government today appointed Nandini Chakraborty as the state Chief Secretary after the term of her predecessor, Manoj Pant came to an end, today.
Chief minister Mamata Banerjee will hold the administrative review meeting on Monday. Chief secretary Manoj Pant, Home Secretary Nandini Chakraborty, all additional chief secretaries, principal secretaries and departmental secretaries are supposed to attend the meeting.
Nabanna has recommended three names-Atri Bhattacharya, additional chief secretary (ACS) in-charge of Sundarban affairs department, Ajit Bardhan, ACS in the north Bengal development department and Barun Roy, ACS in labour department, it’s learnt.
On Wednesday evening, the state personnel and administrative reforms department issued a notification transferring Chakraborty from the chair of principal secretary to the Governor to the position of the principal secretary to the state tourism department.
