The session was led by head coach Mahela Jayawardene, with bowling coaches Paras Mhambrey and Lasith Malinga, and fielding coach Carl Hopkinson also present.
Knowing his village was watching him play, he added, “Everyone back in the village will be watching me play. I got my opportunity today, and I'm very happy.”
The 39-year-old spinner has so far played as many as 103 Test matches and 236 ODIs in which he has 417 and 269 wickets to his credit respectively.
