In keeping with its policy of promoting India’s own knowledge systems, the Government of India has of late proposed integrating MBBS, the standard degree for physicians trained in modern medicine and surgery, with BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) which is rooted in ancient Indian medical traditions.
Talking to media in Haridwar, the Patanjali Trust head asserted that modern medicine is nothing but a "big scam".
Mandaviya said in the meeting that a well-defined mechanism has been put in place to achieve the intended integration of modern and traditional health systems. He added that a monthly joint review mechanism is being implemented to take the process of synergised action forward and to accomplish complete integration of ministries at all functional and conceptual levels.
