During his maiden visit to NALCO Headquarters after assuming charge as secretary, Ministry of Mines, Goyal chaired a review meeting in the presence of Brijendra Pratap Singh, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NALCO.

The Ministry of Mines has notified an amendment to the Mineral (Auction) Rules, 2015, introducing intermediate timelines for various activities to be completed after the issuance of a Letter of Intent (LoI) up to the execution of the mining lease.
Following approval of the scheme by the Union Cabinet on September 3, the Ministry of Mines has issued the guidelines on October 2 for implementation of the same.
Between 2022-23 and 2024-25, a total of 29,276 cases were detected, and a fine of Rs 18.33 crore was imposed on the offenders, according to the Ministry of Mines.
The Ministry of Mines on Wednesday informed that the index of mineral production for the mining and quarrying sector for March this year stood at 156.8, increasing by 0.4 per cent over March 2024.
He also said that Assam, Jammu & Kashmir and Kerala will also join the mineral auction regime soon, expanding the mineral auction map of India to 17 states.
The production of some key minerals in India has continued to witness strong growth after reaching record production levels in FY24, the Ministry of Mines said in a statement on Friday.
