On Friday, Goa Power Minister and MGP leader Sudin Dhavalikar claimed that Congress had invited curses by splitting Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), a regional party, many a time in past and that the grand old party is now paying for its 'karma'.
When asked specifically to respond to queries about his recent meeting with Fadnavis, Dhavalikar said that he was open to members of any political party meeting him.
The first signs of a possible tie-up between the MGP, which held sway in state politics from the 1960s to the 1980s, and the AAP which failed to win a single Assembly seat in the 2017 elections, emerged after Kejriwal met Sudin Dhavalikar during his two-day visit to the state last month.
Sawant had taken oath as CM a little past midnight on March 19, along with Goa Forward Party’s Vijai Sardesai and MGP’s Sudin Dhavalikar as deputy CMs – a first in Goa.
The mid-night political drama has increased the strength of the BJP from 12 to 14 in the 40-member House, bringing them on par with opposition Congress which has an equal number of MLAs on the floor.
