NMC body to set guidelines on ads by pvt hospitals

The National Medical Commission (NMC), the highest regulatory authority monitoring medical education in the country, is all set to prepare strong guidelines to restrict the nature of advertisements given by corporate hospitals across states and Union territories.

Over the decades, several medical colleges were set up in the private sector. There were disparities galore in the criteria for admission and fee structure between private and government -funded medical colleges. Judicial intervention, to some extent, moderated the differences in the criteria for admission and fee structure. State govt’s Covid expert panel defunct since April

Chief minister Miss Mamata Banerjee who also holds the health portfolio had formed the 10-member expert committee during the end of March after reports of deaths from the disease and increasing number of affected patients across the state to guide the government on how to fight against coronavirus.
