As soon as Mayor Shelly Oberoi entered the house, councilors from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) started raising slogans demanding the appointment of the Mayor belonging to the Scheduled Caste.
After the Municipal Corporation of Delhi could not elect a six-member standing committee following of ruckus in the house, Aam Aadmi Party Councillor and Mayor Shelly Oberoi on Friday alleged that BJP Councillors dragged her chair and pushed her.
Amid chaos, Mayor Shelly Oberoi accused BJP councillors of trying to attack her while she was conducting the elections. She called it BJP's “gundagardi”.
Ruckus in the MCD House by the BJP and AAP councillors over election of Standing Committee members continued way past midnight forcing its adjournment till Friday morning.
As per the visuals, the situation became so chaotic that the Councillors started throwing ballot boxes in the well.
