The maximum temperature on Thursday would be considerably down at 39 degrees Celsius compared to Wednesday's 42.2 degrees Celsius.
The maximum temperature at Safdarjung - Delhi's base station - was recorded at 41.1 degrees Celsius while the minimum was 27.5 degrees Celsius, both one notch above normal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The maximum temperatures hovered between two to five notches above normal limits in most parts of the two states, the weather department said.
